We represent insureds and beneficiaries against their insurance companies.

The following are illustrative cases:

    Disability Insurance

    • We settled the client's disability claim for $800,000 which included past benefits denied and future benefits. The settlement included a buy-out of the policy

    • We have settled numerous cases involving smaller disability policies. Many of these cases have been settled for the full benefits where the insurance company initally refused any paymet.

    Health Insurance

    • In a settlement worth $1,000,000 we resolved a severely disabled client's claim for past and future nursing benefits. The client required 'round the clock nurses which the insurance company refused to provide

    • We obtained a settlement of the client's plastic surgeon's bill where the insurance company initially declined coverage on the grounds that the surgery was cosmetic. The client needed surgery to remove excess skin after a great weight loss after gastric by-pass surgery, and the surgery was medically necessary to prevent infection. We were able to show that the surgery was medically necessary.

    Life Insurance

    • On behalf of Russian beneficiaries, we are fighting for the recovery of two policies which total $1,050,000. We are representing the estate against the deceased's former wife who seeks to invalidate the gifts to her late husbands friends. The former wife claims that her ex-husband was not in his right mind when he made the gifts. Before the client's death he specifically requested that I represent the beneficiaries and make sure that they receive the insurance benefits.

    • We settled a contested life insurance case for $499,000. Although there was no issue regarding the nature of the insured's death in an auto accident, the insurance company refused payment based on the decendent's alleged mirepresentations regarding his occupation.

    • We settled a life insurance case for $250,000 where there was a dispute among the beneficiaries regarding payment and whether a sister was deleted as a beneficiary on a death-bed change of beneficiaries form. The client's prior attorneys were on the case 2 years, did not commence suit, and were unable to make any progress. Within 6 months of being hired we commenced the lawsuit and got the case settled.

    • We settled a life insurance case for $100,000, the full policy, upon the filing of the lawsuit. The insurance company was dragging its feet on the basis that it questioned the client's prior health and subsequent death in Colombia.

    • We settled a very difficult life insurance case for $75,000 where the insurance company had very credible evidence that the deceased attempted suicide. We were able to show that the decedent's use of fire and and oil in his bedroom was connected to a religious practice and was not suicide.

    • In a number of cases we obtained the policy limits for the death of young men in their teens and twenties who had the misfortune to be innocent victims of shoot-outs in New York City parks and playgrounds. There was no basis for denying payment, and the insurance companies dragged their feet on these minimal policies. In each of these cases we obtained the full policy limits.

    Property Insurance

    • We obtained a verdict compelling the insurance company to pay $100,790 for repairs due to an imminent collapse of the building. The insurer wrongfully denied claiming that it was termite damage. Additionally, the insurance company claimed that we needed an actual collapse of the building rather than an imminent collapse.

    Auto Insurance

    • We turned a $10,000 case into a $225,000 case. When a leading New York firm referred this case to us the referring firm thought that the limit of recovery was $10,000 for an uninsured vehicle. After extensive investigation and an insurance coverage lawsuit we found that defendant's insurer had improperly cancelled the policy and that as a matter of law it still provided coverage of $250,000.
