The deceased’s ex-wife commenced suit to stop payment of two life insurance policies on the grounds that her ex-husband, our client, was mentally incompetent when he lowered her share and gave shares to his fiancé, an old college friend, and an animal rights group. We represented these other beneficiaries. The ex-wife had already collected her share on one of the policies, and she was blocking payment to the other beneficiaries.

Sadly, the deceased client hired us shortly before committing suicide. He foresaw that his ex-wife would try to prevent the gifts. He had instructed us to carry-out his wishes. Therefore, he hired us with the viewpoint of being prepared for the ex-wife’s suit. We reached a very favorable resolution in the Boston courts, and we were able to fulfill the deceased client’s wishes.
